Norwegian singer-songwriter Jenny Hval, who has been featured in many magazines' best of the year lists, has just released her new album. The single "Ashes to Ashes" was selected as the BEST NEW TRACK by Pitchfork! Three years after the acclaimed "Blood Bitch," Jenny Hval has moved forward in search of new frontiers with her latest work. In a departure from the work that seemed to capture the aesthetics lurking in the darkness, this new work incorporates fresh melodies that seem to have taken on a Scandinavian air from tracks reminiscent of mid-90's trance. The unique yet beautiful vocals and transparent soundscape blend beautifully to present a worldview that gently envelops the listener. The album features friends and collaborators Vivian Wang, Laura Jean Englert, and Felicia Atkinson, who blend into the album as naturally as if they were talking to Jenny on each track. Only the domestic CD release will include a DL code for "Spells".
