Beautiful melody lines reminiscent of great Canadian songwriters such as Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell are accompanied by simple backing music that will sink into your heart. Ellen Doty is a female vocalist/singer/songwriter from Alberta, Canada.She made her debut in 2014 with the album "Gold", and is now highly regarded as a "world-class talent" in the Canadian scene, which has produced many jazz and pop female singers, including Joni Mitchell, with her uniquely appealing voice and songwriting ability, In 2017, "September Moon" was released as a single in advance of the album. We wrote over 50 songs for this album and chose 12 of them. We then tried different band formats before we actually started recording. We started out with a much larger group, but one night we played with just a pianist and a drummer who stayed in the studio, and that was the sound we were looking for. As she says herself, the minimalistic composition enhances the charm of her voice.
