Description:

DEVILDRIVER is an American heavy metal band formed in 2002 by vocalist Dez Faffara. Faffara had previously been a member of the nu-metal band COALCHAMBER, but he founded DEVILDRIVER with the aim of creating a heavier, more aggressive sound. In 2003, they released their self-titled debut album, *DevilDriver*, which garnered attention as a new metal sound emerging from the post-nu-metal era. They further solidified their reputation with the follow-up albums *The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand* (2005) and *The Last Kind Words* (2007), establishing a style that fused elements of groove metal and melodic death metal. Furthermore, 2009’s *Pray for Villains* was a commercial success and has become one of the band’s signature works. Entering the 2010s, they released albums such as *Beast* (2011), *Winter Kills* (2013), and *Trust No One* (2016), further solidifying a darker and heavier direction. Despite lineup changes, they continued their activities and established a reputation as a live band. In 2018, they generated buzz with the release of *Outlaws 'til the End*, an unconventional album featuring metal covers of country songs. They subsequently released the concept albums *Dealing with Demons I* (2020) and *Dealing with Demons II* (2023), which explore themes of the human psyche and inner conflict, further expanding their artistic range. Their 11th studio album, *Strike and Kill*, kicks off with the first track, delivering a mind-blowing impact of heaviness and groove right from the start. In this way, DevilDriver has consistently centered their sound on heaviness and groove since their formation while continuing to evolve, establishing a significant presence in the modern heavy metal scene of the 2000s and beyond.
