German progressive metal pioneers VANDENPLAS are back with the long-awaited acoustic follow-up to their 1996 landmark album *AcCult*, titled *AcCult2*. Following the innovative concept of their debut album *ColourTemple*, which reimagined its tracks with a simple unplugged sound, this new release features carefully selected songs from their extensive catalog, reconstructed with fresh acoustic arrangements to present the band’s music to fans from an entirely new perspective. In addition to reworked originals like “FarOffGrace,” “HolesintheSky,” “TheGhostExperiment,” and “YouFly,” *AcCult2* also features covers of classic songs by other artists, such as STYX’s “BoatontheRiver” and METALLICA’s “NothingElseMatters,” blending a tribute to the originals with VANDENPLAS’s signature melancholy and musical sophistication. Additionally, John Helliwell of SUPERTRAMP makes a guest appearance on saxophone on the album’s final track. The album features the band’s current lineup—Andy Kunz (vocals), Stefan Lill (guitar), Andreas Lill (drums), Torsten Reichert (bass), and Alessandro Del Vecchio (keyboards)—whose synergy brings a delicate warmth to each track. On *AcCult2*, VANDENPLAS seamlessly blends their progressive sensibilities with an intimate acoustic atmosphere, creating an appeal that resonates with both longtime and new fans alike.
