Fates Warning created a new methodology by fusing heavy metal with complex rhythms that inherited the spirit of progressive rock, which later became known as progressive metal and established itself on the scene. As Mike Portnoy, formerly of DREAM THEATER, says that it was FATES WARNING that created progressive metal, the band had a great influence on DREAM THEATER and QUEENSRYCHE, and together they developed the genre of progressive metal. Since their previous album "Darkness in a Different Light" released in 2013 has not been released in Japan, this is the first domestic release of the band in 12 years since "FWX".
