Building on her naturally beautiful tone, Yuki Kurajima resolutely steps into the world of “Études.” Here emerges a refreshing portrait of Chopin, with the flames of a new resolve blazing through her ten fingers. ■ Yuki Kurajima Began playing the piano at age 7. Graduated at the top of her class from the Tokyo University of the Arts. Enrolled at the Imola Conservatory of Music in Italy. She studied under R. Lisariti and L. Margarius, and also received guidance from world-renowned pianists such as Michel Dalberto and Tamás Vassály. She has held recitals throughout Italy, including in Milan, all of which were highly acclaimed. She made her debut with Toshiba EMI in 2006 and has released two albums. Cheknaworian’s “Nostalgia,” featured on her debut album, was used as the closing theme for TV Tokyo’s program “Giants of Beauty.” She performed in concerts throughout Japan as a soloist with the Super World Orchestra, conducted by Eric Kanzel and Philippe Entremont. She was also invited by the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra and toured throughout Germany and Japan. In 2007, she performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with a Hungarian orchestra, becoming the talk of Budapest. In 2008, he released a DVD book he supervised himself, titled *Play Beethoven in 30 Days with 30 Minutes a Day for Adult Beginners* (published by Shogakukan), which was well received.
