First, Kazushi Saito, principal flutist of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, has joined as a new member. Saito, who consistently captivates audiences with his brilliant and precise technique at the Tokyo Philharmonic, is now joining “The Flute Quartet,” an ensemble with a solid fan base. What new dimensions will he bring to the group? How will their sound evolve? We’re very much looking forward to it. Furthermore, “The Chirping Birds Blog”—which serves as the title of this album—is a work commissioned specifically for this ensemble to mark its 10th anniversary, composed by Takashi Yoshimatsu, one of Japan’s leading contemporary composers. As the title suggests, “birds chirp away incessantly in a virtual forest (blog).” ” (Takashi Yoshimatsu). It is a technically very demanding piece, and it will surely reaffirm the high quality of this ensemble. The album also features works by Schmidt and DuPois, which are frequently performed at ensemble competitions, as well as classic masterpieces arranged by Hiroaki Kanda, familiar to fans.
