After serving as principal bassoonist of the Gunma Symphony Orchestra, Mizutani has been active as principal bassoonist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra since 2000. He has also performed as a chamber musician and soloist with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Gunma Symphony Orchestra at various concerts and music festivals in Japan and abroad, earning high praise. His debut album, a collection of Baroque sonatas, consists of an ambitious selection of works including Telemann's Sonata - E minor, Bezzozzi's Sonata, Emanuel Bach's Sonata - D minor, and other rare works with very few recordings. This collection is filled with his enthusiasm and desire to pass on the excellence of the bassoon to future generations.
