The latest 2018 album from John Victorin Yu and the prestigious Philharmonia Orchestra, their first release in a decade, is a masterpiece created by two composers in the new American continent. Coupled with the famous New World Symphony is Victor Herbert's Irish Rhapsody, which, like Dvořák, came to America. Herbert, who taught as a professor at the National Conservatory of Music in New York, where Dvořák served as director, was also a popular cellist and founder of the American Society of Composers, Lyricists, and Publishers (ASCAP). Herbert's music is richly infused with many folk songs from his native Ireland, and his beautiful melodies are performed on a grand orchestral scale.
