Suk, who was himself an outstanding violinist, demanded a high level of technical skill from the string players in particular in this piece; however, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra’s overwhelming technical prowess easily overcame these challenges, bringing out the deep lament Suk embedded in this symphony and moving the hearts of the audience.
