The love it took to leave you follows last year's Juno Award-winning album When we were that what wept from the sea, and features 11 emotional new songs. The album was recorded in 2023 over the course of a week at The Darling Foundry, a 144-year-old former metalworking facility in Montreal. From the album's opening track, Stetson painstakingly sequences a journey through an intense territory colored with various shades of tragic melody, epic and frenetic shredding, horrific beauty, betrayal, and redemption, all in search of transcendence.
