Description:
Sega, a music culture spreading in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa. This is the second compilation of music from the 1970s, when Sega, created by former slaves, flourished as popular music. The Indian Ocean, which stretches to the east of the African continent, is home to island countries (former French territories) and French overseas departments such as Reunion, Mauritius, and the Seychelles. These islands were colonized around the end of the 16th century, and slaves were brought from the African continent and the neighboring island of Madagascar to cultivate coffee, spices, and sugar cane. The drumming, singing, and dancing they did to forget their daily hard labor was called "sega. Sega" is an Afro-dance music with percussion and percussion beats out rhythms of the hachiroku type, and the songs are enlivened with call and response. It was also influenced by the music of people from India, Indonesia, and other Asian countries, and developed as Creole music. From the 1950s, Latin and Brazilian music, jazz, and rock 'n' roll were introduced along with vinyl records, which swallowed them up as well. Many independent labels were established and many discs were produced. This album is a valuable collection of sound sources compiled from 7-inch records released in Reunion, Mauritius, and the Seychelles in the 1970s. Psychedelic keyboards, fuzz guitar, accordion, bouncing bass, and oriental-tinged vocals are intensely intertwined with polyrhythms from drums, drums, triangle, and other percussion instruments to create an intense and unique sound.
