● Founded in 1949 by Misago Tadaaki, the Tokyo Cuban Boys rose to stardom in the Latin band scene when the mambo craze swept Japan after World War II, achieving the monumental feat of releasing over 300 albums in total. ● They disbanded in 1980. They were later re-formed in 2005 by Tadaaki Misago's son, Kazuaki Misago, who carried on his father's legacy as "Kazuaki Misago and the Tokyo Cuban Boys." ● This album marks their first studio recording in a full nine years, commemorating the 20th anniversary since second-generation leader Kazuaki Misago announced the band's reformation.
● The tracks feature Afro-Cuban jazz and Latin jazz numbers rarely performed live before, as well as reimagined Latin standards given fresh life. This ambitious work showcases both the tradition and innovation of the Tokyo Cuban Boys.
● Furthermore, as bonus tracks, this release includes the Tokyo Cuban Boys' timeless masterpiece "Rain at Shirogasima," long awaited by fans, and "Without You," the band's theme song since their formation and the title track of this CD. It's a substantial lineup of 18 tracks.
