The Rokkakubashi Wind Orchestra—composed solely of graduates of the Kanagawa University Wind Ensemble—presents its first full-length album. Their hidden talent is a hallmark of Kanagawa University alumni. Drawing on their professional experience and possessing a high level of musicality, this band has long been cherished as a hidden gem known only to those in the know. This compilation of live recordings from their regular concerts features passionate performances that reinterpret the scores and breathe new life into the pieces. The three tracks recorded in a studio session fully showcase their prowess through focused performances: the elegance of the rarely performed Reed “Third Suite”; Whitaker’s “October,” with its delicate harmonic progressions reminiscent of choral music and overflowing emotion; and Tikeli’s “Simple Gift,” with its unpretentious yet soul-stirring beauty.
