Aisei Nakahashi’s “Kikurosis,” commissioned in 2017, and Chang-soo Ko’s “Chorale and Toccata,” commissioned in 2018, were newly recorded specifically for this album. The album also includes a selection of live recordings from regular concerts conducted by Mutsuo Nakamura, marking his 10th anniversary as the orchestra’s conductor. From Respighi’s dignified yet powerful “Belkis” to “Pinali,” an early work by Chang Su-shui that is rarely performed, each piece showcases the Soka Gloria Wind Orchestra at its very best. Also worth noting is “Wind Patterns” (original edition), featuring Hiroshi Hoshina as guest conductor.
