A Collection of Works by the Late Composer Toshio Mashima A Deluxe 3-Disc Set Capturing Half a Century of Collaboration with Kobe University “I’d like you to create a collection of my works performed by Kobe University.” Toshio Mashima was a highly popular composer for wind ensembles. We began production of this CD collection in accordance with his wishes, but sadly, Mr. Mashima passed away before it could be released. Kanagawa University’s Wind Ensemble—Mr. Mashima’s alma mater—along with Music Director Toshiro Ozawa and CAFUA, which has handled the ensemble’s recordings and CD releases for many years, carried on his legacy. As a result, the collection “Toshio Mashima Meets Kanagawa University”—a project that could only have been realized through the collaboration of CAFUA and Kanagawa University—has been completed. Mr. Mashima’s career as a composer was always intertwined with Kanagawa University. Through the superb performances of the Kanagawa University Wind Ensemble—a prestigious group that has won 28 Gold Prizes at the “All Japan Band Competition”—Mr. Mashima’s works are brought to life with rich color and depth. Incorporating valuable archival recordings provided by Kanagawa University, this collection traces the half-century journey woven by Mr. Mashima and Kanagawa University.
