Popular manga artist George Asakura has created original artwork for the album cover and new artist visuals.
It has been announced that Hasegawa Hakushi’s new album, *Honest Feelings Album*, will be released.
Following her previous album, this release—set to be released via Flying Lotus’s label *Brainfeeder*—boldly incorporates live performances by “Haha to Hairpins,” a new band formed by Hasegawa, marking an ambitious step toward a sound unlike anything she’s produced before.
Additionally, a diverse array of artists—including Tsuki no Mito, tofubeats, Akkorinrin (Otoboke Bee~ba~), and Lee Ran—have contributed to a series of unique and unexpected collaborations. With all tracks flowing seamlessly into one another, the album is structured to tell a single, cohesive story.
The cover art and new artist visuals are original illustrations by manga artist George Asakura, whom Hasegawa deeply admires. Using the motif of Hasegawa cooking okonomiyaki, the artwork portrays a new image of Hasegawa Hakushi imbued with an air of everyday life.
Additionally, Naoki Takehisa, who handled the artist visual photography for the previous release, continues to serve as art director, with Moe Yoshino handling the design.
Furthermore, the first single from the new album, “Lord of Honey,” is now available for digital download. This track features a live performance by “Haha to Hairpins,” a group of musicians with distinctive styles. While it is based on a simple band sound—a rarity for Hasegawa Hakushi—it is an emotionally complex track that is anything but straightforward, interwoven with Hasegawa’s signature approach throughout.
The track was mixed by Jeff Swan, who has worked with artists such as Ed Sheeran and Charli XCX, resulting in a dynamic and energetic sound.
The domestic CD and the LP edition with a Japanese obi strip include approximately 6,000-character original self-liner notes written by Hasegawa Hakushi himself. Additionally, a limited-edition T-shirt set featuring an artist visual illustrated by George Asakura will be available.

How can I put it? It’s like these white particles of sound from Shirogami are rushing into my body, and while they’re sometimes starkly exposed and other times veiled in white mist, they pass by so quickly—it’s kind of like the refreshing feeling after crying my eyes out like a total fool until I’m completely exhausted, mixed with a touch of resignation. And yes, even a shy person like me can honestly write down my thoughts about it.
