Description:

Ezra Collective's Joe Armon Jones releases his two-part epic album, All The Quiet! London-based keyboard player/composer/bandleader/producer Joe Armon Jones, a member of Ezra Collective, has released his first album in six years on his own Aquarii label. This album is a massive work in two parts, "All The Quiet (Part I)" and "All The Quiet (Part II)". All The Quiet represents a new artistic achievement for Joe Armon Jones, a man who understands the essence of jazz and acoustics, and whose tasteful piano playing has captivated many, including artists such as Ashebar, Green Tea Peng, Wu Lu, and Yasmin Lacey. While Joe wrote, produced, and mixed all of the songs, he is in his element as a pianist and songwriter. Since his 2019 solo album, Turn To Clear View, Joe Armon Jones has been actively working at the heart of the currently thriving UK jazz scene. He has toured the world, established his own studio, contributed to various projects on the UK jazz scene, and collaborated with Maxwell Orwin, Huck Baker, and dubstep pioneer Mara. The origins of All The Quiet lie in the lockdown period. Seeking creative stimulation, Joe Armon Jones taught himself how to use a mixing desk, inspired by King Tubby's innovative productions and the feeling he got from experiencing a live dub sound system firsthand. He eventually built a studio at home equipped with a reel-to-reel tape machine and spring reverb, and began experimenting with mixing using his own solo and ensemble recordings and auditioning the results on his friends' Unit 137 sound system in South London. This approach, he said, is not much different from jazz improvisation, and "I became obsessed with exploring the sonic world of dub. I applied the process to jazz, funk, and all the music I love. (1/2)
