Description:
Dennis Boehwel is a genius producer, sound engineer, and musician who combines an adventurous spirit for creating cutting-edge music with a proven ability to produce hit records. His passion for music and his excellent mixing skills are condensed in this must-hear collection dedicated to all music lovers! Full of previously unreleased dub versions! Dennis Bovell has had a prolific and eclectic career that has encompassed a wide range of musical genres, from dub poetry to lovers rock, post-punk, disco, pop, and more. This new compilation focuses on the period during and immediately following Bovell's involvement with Ja Saffer Soundsystem, primarily between 1976 and 1980, and delves deeply into deep cuts and lesser-known versions. In particular, it includes a wonderful unreleased dub version of the iconic Lovers Rock classic "Silly Games" (Janet Kaye).Painstakingly restored and remastered at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin, these decades-old tracks sound clear and dynamic and will transport the listener into the world of Beauvel's prodigious production and arrangement skills. The production of this album was inspired by Dennis Bowell's visit to General Echo Reggae Disco in Walthamstow, London in 2018. His interactions with the people he met there sparked a project to dig up some of his rare recordings. After many years of searching for records, selecting songs, and overcoming difficulties such as the Corona disaster, the album "Sufferer Sounds" was finally completed. It is the culmination of Dennis Boehwel's passion for music and his superb mixing skills. In particular, Dennis Bauvel's unique sound creation stands out on this album. His harmonies and melodies, as well as his use of effects, are a testament to his talent. The liner notes accompanying this album were written based on a lengthy interview with Dennis. He shared his memories and interesting stories about each song and the events that took place during the making of this album. The vinyl and CD versions feature different artwork, both with creative photography by Syd Shelton. This album is a must-have for Dennis Bovell fans and music lovers alike.
