Indian music (raga), led by Ravi Shankar, who also influenced the Beatles, swept the world in the late 1960s. In the UK, where there are many Indian immigrants, the influence of raga spread to rock, folk, pop, and jazz music. The band included Manjeet Singh Rasiya, clarinetist Idris Rahman (Soothsayers, Wildflower, Il Considado), drummer Eddie Hick (Ruby Rushton, Ashley Henry & the Re-Ansemble), and Tim Deluxe, a producer who took the world by storm. Uniting of Opposites, under the direction of Tim Ricken, a producer who has taken the world by storm under the name Tim Deluxe, has released its debut album, Ancient Lights. Fusing jazz rock and krautrock with Indian music, "Mint" and the title track are a world that leads from the psychedelic rock of the past to raga jazz with Indian music by Alice Coltrane, Dave Pike Set, and others.The deep black jazz of "Dr. Roach" and the Afro-spiritual x Indian music style of "Car Number 27 / Mr Alpo" are songs that seem to connect to the South London jazz scene, including Idris' Wildflower and Il Considado as well as Shabaka Hutchings and Nubia Garcia. It is a song that connects to the South London jazz scene of Shabaka Hutchings and Nubia Garcia. Corridor Moves," which should be described as "cosmic jazz," features floating pointe-like sound and space effects, with a heavy use of dub effects. Vortex Number 9," which makes heavy use of dub effects, has connections to the music of UK Agers such as Nitin Sawhney and Talvin Singh. The artwork for the album is by Tokio Aoyama, a Japanese artist whom Dazed magazine called "a contemporary surrealist inspired by everything from Salvador Dalí to Saint-La.
