The reverberation speaks louder than the actual sound. AYANO’s third full-length album, released to mark her 20th anniversary. In a sharp contrast to her previous work, which focused on solitude, this album centers on themes of endings and irreversible change. Unfamiliar lands, unfamiliar skies, unfamiliar languages, including “distance (chapterend),” which depicts major environmental changes and the anxiety they bring, and “OneLastWord,” which portrays a flashback seen one day. The album features a total of seven tracks totaling 44 minutes, including songs already performed live, as well as “dunemirage”—a first-of-its-kind track centered on improvisation, recorded with erhu player Kazuko Sakai.
