NOT WONK Shuhei Kato's solo project SADFRANK, released as a genre-crossing debut album "gel" LP spun with Japanese lyrics. In addition to core members Shun Ishiwaka, Takuma Motomura, and Yuma Koda, the project also includes Shigeru Kishida (Kururi) and other diverse members. 2022 marks the full-scale launch of the solo project of Shuhei Kato, Gt./Vo. of the rock band NOT WONK, which includes the digital distribution singles "Quai" and "offshore", the release of a new album in Hokkaido SADFRANK, which has also made a splash with its one-man live performance at the Glass Pyramid in Moerenuma Park, Hokkaido, will release its long-awaited debut album "gel". In order to realize this project, the production of the music proceeded with three core members: Shun Ishiwaka on drums, Takuma Motomura on bass, and Yuma Koda on keyboards. The project has produced nine songs, including "I Warned You" with string arrangements by Shigeru Kishida and guitar by Ryoken Miyazaki, songs by Yuko Uesu, Qi Matsumaru, and Kei Yamamoto, and songs created with Kato's hometown Tomakomai residents Yo Matsuura, Tayoharu Chukazawa, and Yoneyu. A total of nine songs will be included in this album.Paradoxically, Kato's decision to start this project was also an expression of his love for NOT WONK, the band in which he has been active. This album was a challenge for Kato to use Japanese lyrics to express the complex and turbulent emotions that have been agonizingly bubbling up in his past activities in a more detailed and subtle manner, and to engage not only musicians but also a wide variety of other people.
