HUM, the Frankfurt-based heavy stoner progressive rock trio active since 2019, releases their 2025 album as their first work after signing with Tonzonen Records, a German label home to many modern psychedelic/stoner rock artists both in Germany and abroad! The trio—Harri Gottschalk (g), Martin Krause (b), and Florian Schnaith (drs)—with their diverse musical backgrounds spanning psychedelia, surf rock, prog, and jazz, carve out a slow groove where heavy riffs and intricate rhythms/breaks blend with fluid versatility. Their sound directly reflects themes of environmental destruction and societal aberrations, creating an intensely dark and oppressive atmosphere that resonates with the current post-rock scene. Combined with distorted, eerie vocals, the album unfolds cinematically throughout, despite the tracks averaging just over four minutes each.
