Los Temperamentos, whose repertoire is centered on Latin American Baroque music, has recorded festive music from the Peruvian "Codex del Trujillo," directed by Nestor Fabian Cortez Garzón. Compiled in the 1780s by Baltasar Martinez Compañón, bishop of Trujillo, a large city in what is now northern Peru, the Codex contains musical material, drawings, and documents depicting the daily lives of African slaves, indigenous peoples, and Spanish occupiers who lived in the area.
