Aconcagua" and "The Four Seasons" by Lithuanian star player Martinas Levikis on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Piazzolla 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Astor Piazzolla, the genius who revolutionized the Argentine tango. An album of Piazzolla's bandoneon concerto "Aconcagua" and The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires will be released by Lithuanian-born star accordionist Martinas Levikis. The bandoneon concerto is named after the highest mountain in the Andes Mountains. Aconcagua is the highest mountain in South America, towering near the border between Piazzolla's home country of Argentina and Chile. This time, the piece was performed by Martinas Levikis on accordion. His masterful technique expresses the passion and melancholy of the work. Recorded live in Lithuania in November 2020 with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Modestas Pitrenas. When he wrote the first piece, "Summer in Buenos Aires," in 1965, he did not intend it to be a "Four Seasons," but in 1969 he wrote "Autumn" and "Winter," and finally "Spring," which became a tetralogy. Piazzolla's immortal masterpiece beautifully expresses the atmosphere of the seasons that come to Buenos Aires. Performed with the Micro Orchestra, a chamber orchestra with which Martinas Levikis also frequently performs, this session recording was made in January 2019 at a Lithuanian recording studio.
