This recording of Mozart's chamber music follows the 2018 release of Mozart: The Complete String Quintets (ACC80467CD), and features Nicola Jürgensen, principal clarinetist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Cologne since 2001, who plays Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, a work of great expressive power. Jürgensen's richly expressive playing and the Klenke Quartet's neat and intimate ensemble make for a beautiful masterpiece. In the Horn Quintet with the natural horn virtuoso Stefan Katte, the horns are active in all directions, and Katte's virtuosity is a delight to hear. And then there is the chamber music arrangement version of the Mean Law. Although Bach's mean rules were not published until 1801, Mozart learned of their existence through Count Van Swieten.Mozart spent day after day studying the original sources and the law of averages, and arranged the five fugues in four voices for two violins, viola, and cello.
