Description:
A Look into the Abyss of MusicGernet's "Hornblower"-Abbbade's masterful performance is rivaled by Nelsons's Mara52015 Lucerne Festival LiveAndris Nelsons and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra performed Mahler at the 2015 Summer Lucerne Music Festival. The "Children's Magic Horn" is a German folk song collected by Ludwig Achim von Arnim and Clemens Brentano, and Mahler composed many songs based on its lyrics, which are included in the songbooks "Songs of Youth," "Children's Magic Horn," and "The Last Seven Songs," respectively The baritone solos are sung by The baritone soloist is Matthias Goerne. Gernet himself has performed this work many times in concert and on recordings, and his gentle, delicate voice and careful singing that accompanies the music will strike a chord with listeners. Nelsons also supports Guerne's narrative, and his humorous pieces such as "St. Antonio of Padua Preaching to the Fish" are full of comicality, while "Original Light," which evokes religious piety, creates a sublime sound that sublimates Guerne's singing. The Fifth Symphony is remembered for Claudio Abbado's high-level performance of the work in 2004 with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, which was then called "an unprecedented super orchestra" with a splendid lineup, and Nelsons is also leading the orchestra strongly after the death of its founder, Abbado. When the Fifth Symphony was premiered in Cologne in 1904, it was said to be "a work cursed and incomprehensible to all," but today it is one of Mahler's most frequently performed works, and the fourth movement, Adagietto, is known worldwide as it was used in the film "Death in Venice. Nelsons led the music with a strong driving force, especially in the third movement, and the important "Corno obbligado" was performed by Alessio Allegrini, solo hornist of the St. Cecilia National Symphony Orchestra of Rome, who played the solo part with great skill.
