In addition, the young maestro Sakari Oramo conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra—a long-established Nordic ensemble known as the “Nobel Prize Orchestra”—in a performance of Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5. Joshua Bell captivates audiences with his rich sensitivity and refined musicality. Although he has recorded Tchaikovsky’s concerto twice, the grandeur of this ceremonial performance allowed his delicate, beautiful tone to resonate even more deeply; his exceptional chemistry with Oramo and the orchestra resulted in a deeply fulfilling and passionate performance. In Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5, the transparency of the sound is astonishing.
