Following the concerto collection, Beethoven's "Symphony of Heroes" was recorded by a small group! The period ensemble "Christofori" was formed in Besançon, France, under the direction of the brilliant Dutch conductor and fortepianist, Arthur Suhondelwirth, and his ensemble. The ensemble has been active internationally for 15 years as one of the world's most innovative ensembles in the classical and early romantic periods, and has created a buzz with projects such as the complete Beethoven piano concerto cycle with a small group of around 20 musicians, and now SCHOONDELWURT & CHRISTOPHORI are finally releasing Beethoven's symphonies! This release also features Beethoven's "Hero" performed by a total of 20 players, one per part (19 players for the Coriolan Overture). It is true that Beethoven liked to work with a large orchestra, but the Eroica Symphony was privately premiered (trial performance) at the palace of the Marquis of Lopkowicz, to whom the work was dedicated (Lopkowicz residence), and the musicians in the hall were usually 24.
