The first complete recording of all works on modern instruments! The Complete Piano Trios of C.P.E. Bach! Formed in 2007 by three members representing diverse backgrounds—including five different nationalities—the Linos Piano Trio won the Grand Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and and has served as Artist-in-Residence at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music in London since 2017. The Linos Piano Trio’s complete collection of piano trios—recorded in 2014 to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714–1788), the second son of Johann Sebastian Bach—has been released by the German label C’Avi-music. Although published as a collection of sonatas for keyboard accompanied by violin and cello, C.P.E. Bach himself referred to these works sometimes as “trios” and sometimes as “sonatas”; this fashionable new genre of “sonata” was a huge success at the time of publication. Furthermore, this is reportedly the world’s first complete recording of these works performed on modern instruments. Just as Tamsin Wehli-Cohen’s complete collection of C.P.E. Bach’s violin sonatas (SIGCD573) has paved the way, Bach on modern instruments—such as Tamsin Waley-Cohen’s complete set of C.P.E.
