Spannungen Music Festival Live 2018! 20th-Century Russian and French Chamber Music! This is part of C'Avi-music’s flagship series of live recordings from the Spannungen Music Festival. The Spunungen Music Festival, with renowned German pianist Lars Voigt serving as artistic director, is a chamber music festival held every June in Heimbach, western Germany. It has gained popularity thanks to the participation of star-studded artists such as the Tetzlaff siblings and Antje Weithaus. From the 2018 live recording, this album features late-Romantic chamber music from Russia and France: string octets by Glier and Shostakovich, and a piano quintet by Reinold Ahn. In addition to Tetsuraf Quartet members Tanya Tetsuraf, Elisabeth Kufferath, and Hanna Weinmeister, the lineup features young violist Timothy Ridout—who caused a stir during his 2019 visit to Japan—as well as Alban Gerhard, Arturo Pizarro.
