Mikael Rudolfsson(trombone), Olivier Vivarais (Clarinet) Mikael Rudolfsson, a renowned trombonist from Stockholm, Sweden, made his solo debut in 1987 with this superb album of contemporary composers.Rudolfsson is the trombonist of Klangforum Wien, Austria's leading ensemble specializing in contemporary music, based at the Wiener Konzerthaus, and is also a professor of trombone at the City University of Music and Arts Vienna, where he teaches younger students. He is also active internationally as a soloist, performing at world-famous music festivals and halls such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, Suntory Hall, Berlin Philharmonic, and Amsterdam Concertgebouw. The title of this album, "Encounter," is a multifaceted word, meaning encounter, confrontation, unexpectedness, or contact. Rudolfsson has composed a challenging program of works to demonstrate this diversity, commissioning three composers, Hübner, Gander, and Gruzzi. Rudolfsson's passion for contemporary music has led to many world premieres and commissioned works, and we hope you will enjoy his virtuosity.
