Hamburg Trio Commemorative Disc for Their Visit to Japan! Mitsuru Shiogai is the violinist of the Hamburg Trio, a piano trio based in Hamburg, Germany, and their new recording is released on the German label Genuin. The "Purified Night," which weaves a passionate tale of the late Romantic period, is a piano trio version arranged by pianist Eduard Steuermann, who played the piano part in the premieres of Schoenberg's "Piano Concerto" and "Pierrot Possessed by the Moon," and also worked with Schoenberg in private performance societies. Together with Schumann's "Notturno," which evokes the eternity of early Romanticism, this fine program approaches the theme of "night" from a different angle, with Zemlinsky's sophisticated piano trio in between. The Hamburg Trio was formed in 2013 in Hamburg, Germany. Mitsuru Shiogai has been a violinist with the Hamburg State Philharmonic Orchestra and associate concert mistress of the Hamburg State Opera for many years, and has also been a guest with major German orchestras. Currently based in Japan, Mitsuru is active in Japan and Europe as a guest concert mistress, soloist, and chamber musician for major orchestras throughout the country.Ulrich Horn has been the cellist of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr Symphony Orchestra) for more than 20 years, and Eberhard Hasenfratz is a master chamber musician while teaching at the Berlin University of the Arts.
