Clarinetist Popović is from Serbia. As a soloist, he has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Munich Philharmonic and the Belgrade Philharmonic, and currently serves as principal clarinetist of the Belgrade Philharmonic. In addition to Saint-Saëns’s famous sonata, this album features works by Arnold and Burgmüller (the brother of Johann Burgmüller, famous for his piano method books), as well as a rare piece by the Spanish composer Yuste. The album concludes with Popović’s own delightful “Banat Dance” and the romantic “In My Heart.” Tobu Land System
