The official debut CD by Miljana Raiić, a passionate pianist from Serbia. Milijana Rajić was born in Belgrade and has been based in Dresden since 2008. Her playing is incisive and conveys a sense of strong determination; in particular, the dance pieces featured on this CD are all imbued with a passionate vitality. Whether it’s Falla’s famous “Fire Dance” or Ravel’s elegant and sentimental waltzes, her powerful performances ensure the music doesn’t remain static but radiates outward, stimulating the listener—a quality that is particularly evident in the collection of Balkan dances by her compatriot, Marko Tajčević (1900–1984), her fellow countryman, is particularly evident in the “Balkan Dances.” If you enjoy passionate female pianists, you should definitely remember her name.
