If you enjoy the young, fresh, and vibrant voices of sopranos, you should definitely give this CD a listen. It is a collection of art songs performed by soprano Katharina Konrady, one of the prize winners (this competition awards multiple prizes) at the 2016 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb. Katarina Konrady was born in 1988 in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. After studying in her home country, she attended the Berlin University of the Arts from 2009 to 2013, during which time she made her stage debut. Since 2014, she has been studying at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. She has been a member of the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden since 2015. She possesses a truly beautiful voice; her crystal-clear, resonant high notes, in particular, are already top-notch. Although she was still in her twenties at the time of recording—and thus a soprano just starting out—one can only say that this is an exceptionally strong first step.
