She is a member of “Ensemble Zeitsprung” and is also active in various other contemporary ensembles, maintaining a wide-ranging career. While she shines within these ensembles, this album focuses on her as a soloist; as a narrative-driven concept album, it successfully leaves a lasting impression of her artistry. At the heart of the album is Janáček’s well-known piano piece “Through the Grass,” which matches the accordion’s character and tone so perfectly that one might wonder, “Was this written for the accordion from the start?” For example, the chorale-like melody in “The Virgin Mary of Friedek” conveys a poignant emotion that simply cannot be expressed on the piano.
