Bach (1685-1750)

Description:

Berlin Philharmonic Viola Player Stegner! Martin Stegner, a virtuoso viola player from Nuremberg, Germany, who has been active as a viola player of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra since 1996, has recorded all six pieces of J.S. Bach's immortal masterpiece "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello" with his "viola". The recording of J.S. Bach's immortal masterpiece "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello Stegner describes Bach's music, especially the "Suite for Solo Cello" as "the most perfect piece of music ever written" and "a work that could be interpreted in millions of ways, and that I had so much respect for [that] I didn't dare to perform publicly. The words of Stegner, a seasoned performer who has appeared on many stages as a member of the Berlin Philharmonic and has performed the work in many different periods and styles, remind us of the outstanding perfection and great presence of Bach's "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello".After many years of facing the six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello that enrich his life and make him happy, Stegner decided to share this music with friends and listeners, and decided to record it on his viola. He decided to record the music on viola. Instead of hiring a recording engineer, he went to the hall with four microphones and a viola, and played three roles: performer, producer, and engineer. This is truly a Bach recording that I put my heart and soul into. Martin Stegner began violin lessons with his father at the age of eight, and after studying with Roman Nodel at the Mannheim College of Music, he switched to the viola. After studying with Neidhard Reza and Wilfried Strehle at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Academy, he joined the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin as principal viola player in 1993. Three years later, he moved to the Berlin Philharmonic, where he has remained ever since. A co-founder of the Berlin Philharmonic Jazz Group, Stegner founded Ensemble Bolero Berlin in 2008.He is not only active with the Berlin Philharmonic and as a soloist, but also in a wide range of other fields such as jazz and ensembles.
