Singer/producer BIMSHERMAN, who moved his base from Jamaica to the UK in 1979 and was also active on the ON-USOUND label. This album, *GHETTODUB*, is a seminal work he recorded in Jamaica in 1988—a long-lost dub album that has been difficult to find for many years. The mixes are handled by masters such as ADRIAN SHERWOOD, KING TUBBY, and PRINCE JAMMY. The performances feature an all-star lineup including SLY & ROBBIE and THE ROOT RADICS. It presents a spiritual soundscape where spacey, cosmic dub vibes reminiscent of TRADITION intersect with an intoxicating mellowness. At the same time, its unique style—which incorporates intercom sounds and unique sound effects to create a somewhat comical aspect—is truly one-of-a-kind. This is an essential reissue for reggae and dub fans worldwide. It comes highly recommended not only to ON-U enthusiasts but also to post-punk and trip-hop listeners, as well as fans of Suburbia and Good Music.
