*BadMagic* is Motorhead’s 22nd album, released in 2015, and the last studio album recorded with Lemmy Kilmister (who passed away in 2015). This album is a concentrated showcase of straight-ahead, powerful rock ’n’ roll created by the mature trio of Lemmy, Phil Campbell, and Mikkey Dee. In addition to the high-octane hard rock that has become the band’s trademark, it incorporates elements of blues and classic rock, resulting in a rich and fulfilling work that epitomizes the band’s later career. The album features tracks brimming with Motorhead’s signature speed and heaviness, starting with the opening track “Victory or Die” and including “Thunder & Lightning,” “Teach Them How to Bleed,” “When the Sky Comes Looking for You,” and “Bad Magic.” Furthermore, their cover of The Rolling Stones’ classic “Sympathy for the Devil,” arranged in true Motorhead style, became a major talking point; while preserving the atmosphere of the original, Lemmy’s powerful vocals and heavy instrumentation bring out a new charm in the song. *Bad Magic* remains true to the “1000% rock ’n’ roll” spirit that has remained unchanged since their debut, while serving as the culmination of the band’s musical prowess and songwriting skills honed over many years.
