The Kinks’ 18th studio album (released in 1979; Japanese title: *Low Budget*) is now available in a 2026 remaster! Originally released in 1979, *Low Budget* marked a significant turning point in The Kinks’ later career, introducing a tougher, arena-oriented sound. It remains one of the band’s most successful albums in the U.S. market and is regarded as a defining work of the late 1970s. This was the first album to feature bassist Jim Rodford, who would remain with the band until their 1996 breakup. For this 2026 edition, the album has been newly remastered from the original master tapes, improving clarity, balance, and dynamic range while firmly preserving the character of the original mix. Songs such as “(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman,” “Catch Me Now I’m Falling,” and the title track can now be enjoyed with a more detailed and tight sound.
