The Bryan Ferry Orchestra's jazz album, reminiscent of yet distinct from 2012's 'The Jazz Age'! This work evokes the jazz style of 1930s Berlin. First reissue since its 2018 release! The second album under The Bryan Ferry Orchestra name, released six years after the previous work. It features reinterpretations of Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry catalog songs, remade with a sophisticated jazz sensibility and arranged in a jazz style reminiscent of 1930s Berlin. Approximately half the tracks (1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13) feature Bryan's vocals, while the remaining tracks are instrumental. The album's concept originated from Ferry's role as music consultant for the highly acclaimed German TV series "Babylon Berlin," with six tracks from this album also featured on the show's soundtrack. The recording was done at Bryan's private studio, Studio One, as with The New Age, and mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The same arrangers and musicians as the previous album: Colin Good, pianist, arranger, and music director for As Time Goes By (1999), is also known as a long-time collaborator of Bryan Ferry, having toured with Roxy Music. He plays a central role in the 1920s-style arrangements on this album. Some of Britain's finest jazz musicians are assembled, including Enrico Tomasso (a legendary British trumpeter known for his friendship with Louis Armstrong, who plays trumpet and cornet on this album) and Alan Barnes (saxophone).
