Beethoven (1770-1827)

Description:

Philippe Jordan (1974-) was born in Zurich, Switzerland. After graduating from a local conservatory, he worked at many opera houses. In 2009, he became Music Director of the Opéra National de Paris, and in 2014, he assumed the important position of Chief Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. While his early works, such as Nos. 1 and 2, are full of fluid and smooth phrases reminiscent of Haydn and Mozart, from No. 3 onward, he emphasizes Beethoven's individuality and his strong sense of structure and the experimentalism that pervades each piece. The video clearly captures Jordaan's careful weaving of music that is "the Beethoven of the 21st century," including the experimental elements that abound in each piece. The images are of the highest quality currently available, and are pleasing to the eye along with the elaborate camerawork. Philippe Jordan is a conductor in the making. In this more than 50-minute documentary by Rainer E. Moritz, he fully shares his childhood memories and his attitude and love for music. The interview is also interesting in that you can see his father Armin in his eyes, his stories about other musicians, and his soft and humorous face, which is different from the strictness he shows when conducting. The Paris Opera Orchestra: The Opera (l'Opera) is an opera house in Paris, and is mainly used as the name of the Palais Garnier, which was completed in 1875, but since the completion of the Opera Bastille in 1989, performances are now held at this location. The Opéra National de Paris is France's leading opera and ballet organization, and its orchestra is the Orchestre de l'Opera de Paris (Paris Bastille Orchestra). It has a long history, including the orchestra, which can be traced back to an opera company founded in 1669.The orchestra's music directors have included Georges Prêtre, Georg Solti, Silvio Valviso, and Lothar Zagrosek during the time of the Palais Garnier, and Myung-Whun Chung and James Conlon after the opening of the Opéra Bastille. Jordaan's appointment as chef of this historic orchestra at the young age of 35 is proof that he has a strong future ahead of him. Naxos Japan
