Description:

The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the world's largest music festivals with a 55-year history. The "THE MONTREUX YEARS" series unravels rare sound recordings from the vast and extensive collection of the late Claude Nobs, the founder of the festival. The latest in this series of historically and musically significant performances by icons of music history, the 2-CD analog set of works by Dr. John, a revolutionary of the New Orleans sound who has continued to inspire the scene with his unparalleled and unique presence, is now also available! The Montreux Jazz Festival, one of the world's largest music festivals, has been held for 56 years since its inception in 1967. The festival has featured many iconic artists who have added color to the history of music, and has produced some of the most memorable performances in history. The festival has been preserved as a vast and valuable collection called Montreux Sounds. In 2013, the Montreux Sounds was recognized by UNESCO, The Montreux Jazz Festival and BMG have teamed up to present "THE MONTREUX YEARS," a series that will explore the Montreux Sounds' vast collection. To date, Etta James, Nina Simone, Muddy Waters, Marianne Faithfull, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Monty Alexander, and this year, Paco de Lucia and Michel Petrucciani have been released. The festival not only brings legendary performances by world-class artists back to life, but also includes a wealth of rare and previously unreleased recordings from the festival's rich 55-year history, as well as a booklet with newly written liner notes and previously unpublished photos. This series is of great significance in the history of music. Mastering will be done by Tony Cousins at Metropolis Studios in London. Following Paco de Lucia and Michel Petrucciani's releases this year, the latest in this series is Dr. John, a revolutionary of the New Orleans sound who has continued to inspire the scene with his unparalleled and unique presence.Unlike the previous THE MONTREUX YEARS series, which featured a selection of songs from various years of performances, this Dr. John film features 14 songs from his 1986 performance.
