ETHOS, a symphonic rock band formed in '73 based on THE SENTUIRES/THE HERD/ATLANTIS, which was active in the 60's, represents American progressive rock in the 70's along with KANSAS and STARCASTLE. ETHOS released their second and final album "OPEN UP0" from Capitol Records in 1977, and it was reissued on CD by Paisley Press in Germany in 2012. The album was released in 1977 on Paisley Records' second and final album "OPEN UP0" and reissued on CD by Paisley Press in Germany in '24! The symphonic sound that combines both technique and European fantasy is inherited from the previous album, but the keyboardist has left the band, and the coloring of American pop/hard rock from the band's origins has been increased a little.The disturbing laughter at the beginning of "PImp City" is a surprise, but you will surely be surprised by the twisting and turning symphonic rock that gradually sublimates the chaotic impulses of early CRIMSON and the vaudeville and lyricism of GENESIS roots in its own unique stance, The contrast between the comical theme with bouncing bass and guitar and the melancholic vocal part gives a strange impression in "Start Anew," and "Marathon The album is a masterpiece representing American progressive rock of the 70's, just like the first album.
