Previously unreleased material from a very loud power trio from San Francisco in the late 60's has been unearthed and released! !!!Includes a great studio demo from 1968 and a raw and wild live track. Boogie was probably the first hard blues/proto-metal group to emerge from the San Francisco scene. The band featured Barry "The Bee" Bastian on guitar/vocals (Canned Heat, Lee Michaels, etc.), John Barrett on bass (The Rhythm Dukes), Fuzzy John Oxendine on drums (Roky Erickson & The Aliens, Jerry Miller Band, etc.) on drums. Fellow Moby Grape and Sons of Champlin, they have played with bands such as Buffalo Springfield, Quicksilver, Ace of Cups, Flaming Groovies, Country Joe & The Fish, The Ark, Avalon, They have played legendary venues such as The FillmoreTheir explosive show in front of 150,000 people at the Sky River Rock Festival in August 1968 is said to be legendary among some fans. Their tumultuous story, which included an undercover sting and a marijuana bust, unfortunately did not result in a record deal. However, three songs, "In Freak Town," "To Me," and a cover of the terrific seven-minute fuzz tune "Wade In The Water," as well as a studio demo (1968), including a live recording from 1969, have been unearthed. Previously available only as part of Barry Bastian's private CD releases, this is the first time it has been released on vinyl! Side A: STUDIO 1968Side B: LIVE 1969
