First published by Günter Ramin / Bach: Magnificat In 1918, he became the organist at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. From 1940, he succeeded his mentor Straube as the 12th Thomaskantor since Bach, and until his death in 1956, he served as an organist, harpsichordist, and and conductor, preserving the German tradition of Bach performance. This recording of Bach’s work by Günter Ramin is making its debut release. While the sound quality tends to be somewhat muffled and cannot be described as excellent, this is a valuable album.
