Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 1, Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No. 1 Horowitz, Walter While the sound quality of both recordings is not the best, even considering the era in which they were made, these are magnificent performances known for more than making up for any master-related imperfections, such as audible noise. In the first movement of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1, there is a defect in the master recording lasting approximately 4 minutes (about 100 measures) caused by a malfunction in the recording equipment. Consequently, the first movement has been split into two tracks, which are connected using fade-out and fade-in transitions. Note that the Tchaikovsky pieces included on this album are re-recordings remastered from ARPCD0464.
