Playing Cesar Franck! Organist Stefan Schmidt! Stefan Schmidt, organist at Würzburg Cathedral in Germany, studied under Daniel Roth, and in this previously unreleased recording from 2002, he proves himself a virtuoso in his extremely sensitive and technically adept performance of César Franck's famous "Deux Pieces" (12 works). Schmidt was organist for several years. The organ in St. Peter's Church in Düsseldorf, where Schmidt was organist for several years, was built in 2001 by Gockel in the French style and is well suited for playing Franck's works. Organist Stefan Schmidt was born in Düsseldorf in 1966, studied Catholic church music at the Robert Schumann University of Music in his hometown, and served as cantor of St. Peter's Church in Düsseldorf from 1991 to 2004.
