Description:
Joseph Kalatz (1830-1901) was an organist, carillonist, and composer in 19th century Antwerpen, Belgium. He studied organ under the famous Belgian organist Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens, who gave his name to the Lemmens Conservatory, and was an organist at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerpen and an educator at the Antwerpen Conservatory. The Schhaven organ (built in 1891) in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerpen, where Kalártz was organist, underwent extensive restoration between 2014 and February 2018, and this collection of works by Kalártz by Peter van de Velde is the first recording since the restoration.
